The humble bumblebee, genus Bombus, is a gentle creature, but only if you are kind. Thick, perhaps even fat, in appearance but agile in flight. Calm if you are calm, but possessing a fearsome sting if entrapped or threatened. Many of them, despite their size, can go unnoticed, just part of the garden never attracting any additional regard.
The Special Circumstances Bombus-SR is well named. Broad in the blade, with wide keen bevels and a fierce point, it fits in the hand well, balances and moves expertly, and disappears when concealed.
Truly disappears. The Bombus-SR is fully non-metallic. Hand-crafted by Ian Wendt of Special Circumstances Inc with black Zirconium Oxide ceramic laminated with UV reactive gold G-10 and black G-10.
For pure cutting performance there is no superior non-metallic blade to ceramic, and with SCI’s laminating process there are no concerns about strength. With strong G-10 supporting all but the keen cutting edge of the blade, the Bombus-SR is robust even in the face of life saving use.
The wide profile of the Bombus, at an overall length of 6.25″, gives it great stability when carried. The grip is hand fitting and fully textured with a comfortable, but highly effective, hand carved dimpling. The 3.25″ long blade is 1.75″ wide. Overall thickness of the Bombus is a hand-filling .5″.
Sheathed in black Boltaron Veloci, stitched with black Kevlar thread, with GripHook IWB clip.
